What To Do When You Have Twins?

Becoming a parent is one of the most joyous moments in our life. When you are expecting a baby, you want everything to go perfectly till you finally hold your baby in your arms. What doubles the joy is when you know you are going to have twins.

Having twins is exciting but you might be overwhelmed too. Twins mean double the responsibilities and double the financial constraints. However, you do not need to worry about managing things. Here are some tips that can help you manage your life around twins.

1.     Never Set Turns For Babies

Most parents make the mistake of setting turns for their babies when it comes to feeding or sleeping. Try to take the two together to develop a routine. If you are feeding one baby before the other, the other will cry their heads off in hunger. Similarly, if you have successfully slept with one baby, the other might wake them up again.

Try to develop their routines together. You can tandem feed your babies or bottle feed them together. Use a nursing pillow to keep your hands free while breastfeeding so that you can feed both babies together. Similarly, put them to sleep together.

2.     Prepare Everything Before Bath Time

Bathing a baby is already a stressful job because you have to move quickly to prevent the baby from getting sick or crying. Therefore, try to involve your partner during bath time for an extra set of hands.

Whether you are bathing the twins alone or with the help of your partner, make sure that you have prepared everything beforehand. Put the diapers and fresh clothes near the changing station. Keep the bottles ready, or if you are breastfeeding, keep the nursing station prepared with a nursing pillow and other things.

3.     Ask For Help When Needed

You might not be able to handle two babies together, especially during the first few weeks when your body is in a healing process. Therefore, do not feel shy to ask for help.

You can ask your immediate family such as your parents, siblings, or your close friends to look out for babies while you take a nap or clean yourself.

4.     Take Your Twins Out For Errands

When you have twins, you double the chances of pacifying a crying baby. When you have to go out to run an errand, it would be easier for you to take the twins along instead of leaving them home. You should buy double stroller in NZ to carry both kids in one stroller. This not only saves you space but is also a much more manageable option.

You can put all the baby stuff in the stroller and enjoy your grocery shopping.

5.     Use As Much Gear As You Need

Never feel bad for using baby gears. If someone makes you feel guilty, remind them that baby gears are made for the sole purpose of making things easier for parents. You should have bouncers and mobiles to entertain your kids while you do other things.

Do not be worried that your baby will become addicted to a bouncer or cot for sleep. They will grow old eventually. Meanwhile, to keep yourself sane, use as much gear as you want.
