The Historical Connection Between Animals and Humans

Animals have been the most loyal and loved friends of human beings since the beginning of modern humans. Though they might have a history of being wild, human evolutions and their leisure interest over a period of time have made a lot of animals more human friendly or social. Their development with humans has made them different to what some of their ancestors were like. Humans for thousands of years love being surrounded by animals like a lot of them are as friendly as we humans are. There’s a long history behind different animals being domesticated. Humans started to have pets for hunting, protection, travel, company, food, farming, leather, etc.

Historical Connection Between Animals and Humans

Different arguments have been made about the domestication of animals or having some unique kind of pets too. While people worldwide love to have pets, most pet lovers chose them to depend on their needs and the types/categories of pets.

The most commonly used types of pets are:

  1. Working Pets
  2. Pets for Farming and/or Food
  3. Companion pets
  4. Working Pets: These are mainly the working or draft animals like Horses, Donkeys, Mule, or Camels. These are fewer common types of a Pet to have but still, they are somehow closer to the human being than farming pets. You then get working dogs who help with farming and agricultural elements.
  5. Pets for Farming and/or Food: Animals like Sheep, Cows, Buffalo, Pigs, Turkeys, Ox, etc fall under this type. They are usually seen or like to be in herds and are easy to control. They also are cost efficient as they share their diet habits with the working pets mostly eating plants and grass.
  6. Companion Pets: These are the most commonly used pets such as Dogs, Cats, Birds, etc. Because of their nature and their evolution of growing side by side with the human presence they are the most chosen and supposed to be the most loyal kind of pets worldwide.

Statistical data shows people in the UK still choose Dogs as their first priority as pets followed by Cats. There are some other pets which are popular too such as Birds, Rabbits, Hamsters, Guinea pigs, Fish, Turtles, etc. Pets being friendly and loyal, make great company spend time with.

A lot of them grow quickly and become mature enough as they have a shorter life compared to humans hence, they require special care for their health and food. Though a lot of them can adapt and sustain different conditions it’s always good to provide them some extra love with things that can provide them a suitable and comfortable environment to stay healthy and happy.
